From the Gili Islands
Direct fast boats, once or twice a day.
You don't have to go back through Bali. Several fast-boat operators (Ekajaya, Wahana, Scoot) run direct services from the Gili Islands to Nusa Penida, usually once or twice a day.
The crossing is 2–3 hours depending on sea state, with a stop at Padang Bai on Bali to change boats or clear passengers. Book at least a day ahead.
If seas look rough, they'll reroute you through Padang Bai and Sanur. Same day, longer day.
